Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 has had a bumpy launch. There’s the good, the bad, and then there’s Call of Duty MW3’s campaign… But as players are done grinding challenges for gun camos (like the FORGED), unlocking new blueprints. They’re also trying out new weapons and getting the hang of the updated Gunsmith and making use of the new Aftermarket parts attachments–which are buggy at the moment (Tyr conversion Kit…), we’re heading into the latest era of COD Ranked Play. So Here’s everything we know so far about Call of Duty MW3 Ranked Play – Ranks, Skill Divisions, Operator Skins, Rewards, and Maps coming soon.

COD MW3 Ranked play will be released on January 17, 2024, for MW3 Season 1 Reloaded. Players will get to unlock new blueprints, calling cards, weapon camos, charms, loading screens, and much more via ranked challenges.

With a 4v4 approach, identical to Call of Duty League 2024 (CDL 2024) featuring Hardpoint, Control, and Search and Destroy, players will compete in a tight map roster consisting of Highrise, Karachi, Terminal, Skidrow Invasion, and Sub base.

Players will have to earn SR, climb from Bronze to Iridescent or even Top 250, among 8 Skill Divisions and 50 Levels. They’ll earn special operator skins, emblems, and animated emblems.

MW3’s Ranked Play Game mode will feature 3 categories. MW3’s Base Ranked Play System will allow you to earn rewards, weapon camos, blueprints, emblems, calling cards, and charms, just like you were able to in MW2 2022. Players will have to upgrade from Level 1 to Level 50. After every 5 Ranks, you’ll earn new rewards which would be pretty much worth it. Players can win matches and earn stars to rank up in the base MW3 Ranked Game Mode.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3: Ranked Play Skill Divisions

COD MW3’s Ranked Play Skill Divisions will be divided into a total of 8 Skill Divisions, and the Skill Division you land on depends upon your in-game performance, which is tied heavily to the SR you gain. Here are all the Skill Divisions in MW3’s Ranked Play Game Mode.

  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Diamond
  • Crimson
  • Iridescent
  • Top 250

In addition, from ranking up from Level 1 to Level 50 by winning games and earning stars. Similar to MW2, players will also get some rank rewards along the way and a wealth of shiny operator skins, weapon camos, and animated emblems for higher Skill Divisions in MW3 Ranked Play.

MW3 Ranked Play: Level 1 to Level 50 – Operator Skins

Regarding base ranks, players will level up from Level 1 to Level 50. Players will only get two operator skins–which are known so far. Level 5 gives players the Competitor Operator skin with 4 variants depending on gender and team. At level 50, players will unlock the MW3 Veteran Operator skin, which has a neat graphic design.

Excluding Bronze and Silver, players that rank up to Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Crimson, Iridescent, and Top 250 Ranks will get to enjoy 4 variations of dedicated Operator Skins, Weapon Camos, and Animated Emblems.

While the initial Operators Skins don’t differ all that much aside from the colour scheme, Iridescent and Top 250 players receive more stylized Operator Skins and Weapon Camos, and a special patch that indicates TOP 250 on the Operator’s sleeve. On the flip side, the Call of Duty League (CDL 2024) Operator Skins and Weapon Camos look miles better.

How Does SR Work in Call of Duty MW3 Ranked Play Skill Divisions?

COD Ranked Play Skill Divisons and Ranking System

COD MW3’s Ranked Play mode will feature Skill Divisions depending upon the amount of SR points you gain or lose, and that comes down to a few key performance factors:

  • If players perform well in a match but still lose, you’ll lose a small amount of SR.
  • If players perform inadequately in a match, you’ll lose a lot of SR.
  • Similarly, players who perform well in a match and win will gain tons of SR to enter higher Ranks and Skill Divisions.
  • But players that perform poorly, yet still manage a win, will gain a small amount of SR.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play – Map Roster

COD MW3’s Ranked Play mode will feature a restricted number of maps, identical to the maps seen in Call of Duty League 2024 (CDL 2024) Boston Breach Major. These are the official maps included in COD MW3’s Ranked Play game mode:

  • Invasion
  • Karachi
  • Sub Base
  • Terminal
  • Skidrow
  • Highrise

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3’s Ranked Play game mode will follow the same rules, regulations, map roster, and item restrictions as we’ve seen in CDL 2024 (CDL 2024). This means that players will be thrown into a 4v4 competitive match in three game modes and a limited roster of MW3 maps to choose from.

The weapon selection in MW3 Ranked Play has also been limited to level out the playing field, in an attempt to keep things balanced. So all-in-all, everything will come down to accuracy, team coordination, positioning, and team strategies.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play Game Modes

COD MW3 Competitive Map Roster and Game Modes

As seen in CDL 2024, Ranked Play is expected to consist of three game modes–basically limiting players to Hard Point, Search and Destroy, and Control.

  • Hardpoint
  • Search and Destroy
  • Control

1. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3’s Ranked Play: Hardpoint Opens Up New Possibilities and Areas

Hardpoint is a time-based game mode in MW3 where players have to reach a maximum score of 250 points in under 5 minutes. With every minute, new Hardpoints open up, allowing players to move to the other areas of the map. Here’s MW3 Ranked Play’s Hardpoint Map Roster:

  • Terminal
  • Karachi
  • Skidrow
  • Terminal
  • Sub Base
  • Invasion

2. Control Brings Some Tension Into COD Modern Warfare 3’s Ranked Competitive Scene

With a limited number of respawns added to the mix, one team is tasked to capture map points, while the opposing team is tasked with defending the points. The timer ticks with only 90 seconds to capture the first point, and with each point captured, the offensive team gains bonus time. With that said, here’s the official map roster for Control:

  • Invasion
  • Karachi
  • Highrise

3. Search and Destroy Returns in COD Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play

COD Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play Search and Destroy

Search and Destroy is similar to what we’ve seen in CS2. Players are given a timer of 90 seconds a round–with a total of 8 rounds to complete. The offensive team is tasked to secure a bombsite, plant a bomb, and detonate it.

The defense team is tasked to either eliminate all enemies or defuse the bomb within the allocated defusal time limit to win a round.

The first team to win 6 rounds out of 8 wins the match. And with that said, here’s the official Search and Destroy map roster for MW3’s Ranked Play:

  • Highrise
  • Invasion
  • Karachi
  • Skidrow
  • Terminal

Will Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play Be Good Or Worth it?

If you’re in it for the ranked play rewards, weapon camos, operator skins, charms, calling cards, and emblems, Ranked Play is pretty much worth it. You can rank up your base Rank Level, jump to newer skill divisions, and complete Season 1 Reloaded Ranked Challenges to stack up on rewards. However, there’s not much known about MW3 Ranked Play Season 1 Reloaded’s Ranked Challenges.

But we’ll keep you updated with more news on MW3’s Ranked Play Game Mode and all the rewards that’ll be tied to the competitive scene once we get official word from Sledgehammer and Activision.

Till then, stay tuned for more updates, guides, weapon loadouts, bug fixes, and MW3 news at EsportsNext.
