The newest upcoming title in the Prince of Persia Series from Ubisoft is Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown from Ubisoft, making way towards its release date on January 18th on almost all modern platforms including older ones like the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as one newer ones like PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, including the Nintendo Switch as well. A Deluxe Version of the game allows players to dive into the game three days early so many players are already going through the story. It also managed to get praise from many critics before its official release in just a few days as the game is currently scoring great on Metacritic with 86, and it is looking a worthy title as the newest POP title developed by Ubisoft.
Critics note the solid performance and quality of the title, with the game having a smooth 60 fps framerate on all platforms. This is noteworthy when many other titles do not come to par with frequent dips, especially with the Nintendo Switch where the newest titles do not bolster high performance or graphics. The gameplay goes back to the sidescrolling roots of Prince of Persia but not without its modern updates, giving players many sequences of action in other forms as well. The newest protagonist Sargon plays through with a simplistic gameplay moveset in the beginning but makes its way to an adaptable and intriguing complexity as the story progresses and gamers unlock more powers and upgrades.
The signature Persian architecture isn’t exactly in its purest form over here, which would question if this game would really hold in the Prince of Persia name, however, the power to bend time is here and there are enough similarities for players to get through without much thought on that matter, and besides, the game does look promising and a verily fun title which outshines most nitpicks anyone would make out.
There is more room for a full-fledged AAA Prince of Persia game in the future but for now, the Sidescroller Action Adventure would fill the room for devoted older fans who have only been given more Assassin’s Creed content with the newest one adapting the roots of that franchise with Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
There is also praise for gameplay against bosses, the soundtrack as well, and overall each aspect gives a good and fun experience as another Sidescroller Metroidvania title.
The game’s preorder is still available to players as there is still a day or two left for them to get the Prince of Persia: Warrior Within’s Prince Outfit. The Deluxe Edition of the game comes with its share of exclusive content that includes a unique look, an item to make it much easier to find secrets in the game and a full digital guide as well. The normal version will still land you the Warrior Within look if you pick it up right now.
Players also have the option to play its Demo if they want to check out the game before making the final decision to purchase it via the link given at the end of this article.
Check out the game over here on the official Ubisoft website if interested. For the Prince of Persia franchise, the game looks to be a promising addition and an honourable one to carry on the classic franchise name as Ubisoft seems to have done very well with Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown.
