Sphinx Location and How to Reach it in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is receiving worldwide praise after its release and is expected to be part of the Game of The Year nominees. While the game has a lot going for it like its combat influenced by the multiple classes available in it, one of the best things about the game are it’s sidequests. A personal favorite is the A Game of Wits side quest which will have you solving riddles for the creature called Sphinx. You need to find the Sphinx in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to start the A Game of Wits side quest. However, finding the Sphinx itself is a riddle considering how hard it is to reach their location even if you know where it is located. This is why, we have mentioned the Sphinx Location in Dragon’s Dogma 2 and also how best to travel to it. The rewards earned from these riddles are great so we recommend completing it.

Noted: Please follow our Sphinx Riddles and Solutions Guide for Dragon’s Dogma 2 to complete all riddles correctly to not miss any rewards or fail the entire quest.

Sphinx Location 1: Mountain Shrine in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Sphinx Location 1 Dragon's Dogma 2

The first location of the Sphinx is at the Mountain Shrine in Vermund. But the path there is tricky so we recommend carrying a Portcrystal with you to place at the Mountain Shrine for fast travel which will help you save time later on.

  • First, just head to the Checkpoint Rest Town and move northeast on the main path. Later, you’ll find another road on the left that you need to follow to head into the mountains.
  • You should be in the Ancient Battleground by now. See the ruins on top of the hill? That’s where you need to head to.
  • We recommend finding the NPC Oskar in the area who will guide you through the area in exchange for you escorting him. This is part of the quest ‘Tolled to Rest’.
  •  Now, once you are on top of the old battlements, you’ll see a ladder that will take you to the top if you climb it. Behind the ruins will be the Worldsend Cavern which will take you into the mountain.
  • Be prepared to fight multiple enemies as you get through the cave to find the Ancient Ruins. Just run across them and head into the Shrine Corridor.
  • Move into the Shrine Corridor and go up the staircase and you’ll meet the Sphinx in all her glory at the Mountain Shrine.

Do not forget to place a Portcrystal here! While the path to the Mountain Shrine was fun considering we get to see a dragon and a cyclops fight each other on the way (and fight a golem ourselves), the journey is pretty long and tiring so you will probably not be looking forward to traversing it all again.

Sphinx Location 2: Frontier Shrine in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Sphinx Location 2 Dragon's Dogma 2

After you have completed the first five riddles, the Sphinx will fly away and you will need to find her again to continue the questline. Before leaving the Mountain Shrine, don’t forget to pick up the portcrystal that you dropped here for fast travel. While you could technically grab onto her and fly away with her to the new location, it will result in you not being able to pick up your Portcrystal and the last reward that the Sphinx gave you.

This time the Sphinx will now be found at the Frontier Shrine which is just south of the Checkpoint Rest Town. Make sure to stay on the main road as you will encounter powerful enemies that may steer you off the path. You need to follow the path alongside the river flowing here to the west past a cave and you’ll find the Frontier Shrine where the Sphinx is located; and like last time, do remember to drop a portcrystal here for easy travel.
