Snoop Dogg and Cordell Broadus launch Death Row

It was questionable when Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart were besties but coming to the gaming side is not a unique move for the rapper. Mainly because the gaming and music industries are not poles apart. Snoop Dogg has consistently worked on various business ventures and this time he has collaborated again with his son, Cordell Broadus, to create a video game studio, Death Row Games. Both have been working and collaborating on different businesses for a while now. They were quick to launch a metaverse venture and step into the NFT sector too. Although this is not the first time Snoop Dogg has stepped into the gaming industry, it is a bigger step than the others made earlier.

Snoop Dogg launches Death Row Games

Previously, the duo has collaborated several times with other names in the gaming industry. Snoop Dogg has a few collaborations with “Call of Duty” and his son was also the Creative Director for the first-ever crypto-gaming app, Doge Dash. Thus, it is familiar territory for the two to launch a video game studio, Death Row, which will ‘provide access and opportunity to diverse creators to empower them as well as broaden the narrative around what gaming is and can become’, Cordell later adds in his interview with Afrotech that ‘we wanted to make sure that we’re part of the decision that’s being made and more importantly tell these stories from diverse creators and focus on creatives in underserved communities.’

Snoop and Cordell have been teaming up for a long time now and on different ventures. The best thing about the two is that they stick together. it is safe to say that Snoop Dogg makes sure he continues to stay relevant, even if not in his core music industry.

Although a legend in the music industry, in recent times he has worked on several business ventures and Cordell loves to work with him too. ‘I think it’s dope for a father and a son to be working together for one, and for two he’s 51 years old. So he may be out of touch with some of these things. And I’m always there to keep him up to speed and translate information to him in a tone that he can understand. I think that’s more important… but just as much as I’m giving him game he’s given me the keys to make these decisions with an IP as big as his’, he adds. Death Row Games is likely to be a platform for small creators to showcase themselves and move up in the gaming scene.

Death Row was initially founded in 1991 by big names in the rap scene, Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, and Dick Griffey.  Ever since then, Death Row has been inconsistent and unable to sustain itself in the long run. Later in 2022, Snoop Dogg came into the picture and obtained the rights for the trademarks of Death Row and now here we are.

Either way, Snoop Dogg is EVERYWHERE! He’s literally a human conglomerate. This guy is a rap legend, he’s been to jail, he is besties with Martha Stewart and the list really goes on. Hoping that this venture works out for the better of Cordell and Snoop but more importantly for the ‘underserved communities’ as claimed by Cordell.
