After multiple leaks, Nvidia has finally unveiled its GeForce RTX 40 SUPER series at CES 2024 with the RTX 4070 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and RTX 4080 SUPER graphic cards. The cards are set to launch periodically near the end of January. Aside from focusing heavily on AI tasks, Nvidia claims that the GPUs are more power-efficient than the previous series by providing better performance with a comparatively lower power consumption.
Note: RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4080 have been removed from Nvidia’s official lineup. The RTX 4070’s price has been dropped to 549 USD.
Geforce RTX 4070 SUPER:
The Geforce RTX 4070 SUPER will launch on 17 January with a price tag of $599. While it has the same 12GB of GDDR6X memory as its predecessor 4070, the Geforce RTX 4070 SUPER will have around 20% more cores. The 4070 SUPER will have Ada Lovelace 36 Shader teraflops, 3rd Gen 82 Ray Tracing teraflops and 4th Gen 568 AI TOPS.
Geforce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER:
Launching a week later, the Geforce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is priced at $700 accompanied by a host of new upgrades. The GPU will feature a 256-bit memory interface with a bandwidth of 672GB/s. Its memory has been increased from 12GB to 16GB GDDR6X; besides this stuff, Nvidia is offering more CUDA cores. Nvidia also shared that the RTX 4070 SUPER will have Ada Lovelace 44 Shader teraflops, 3rd Gen 102 Ray Tracing teraflops and 4th Gen 706 AI TOPS.
Geforce RTX 4080 SUPER:
At $1000, the Geforce RTX 4080 SUPER will launch at the end of January on the 31st. Offering more CUDA Cores, the GPU will also contain faster memory with the VRAM running at 23 Gbps; The memory bandwidth has been increased from 716 GB/s to 736 GB/s. Nvidia has advertised that this is the fastest GPU par the mighty RTX 4090 and it is capable of overpowering two GeForce RTX 3080 Ti cards.
This is a welcomed refresh across the board considering that we are getting better performance in the same price bracket. Nvidia has thankfully also replaced the outrageously priced RTX 4080 ($1200) with a better GPU at a lower cost. Also, Nvidia has not released the full spec sheets for the RTX 40 SUPER GPUs, which are awaited and it would be interesting to see how the GPUs fare in reality to ascertain Nvidia’s power consumption remarks.
