After 10 years of rumours and some excruciating waiting, Rockstar Games has finally announced that the first reveal trailer for their next entry in the GTA franchise will be released in early December. December marks the 25th anniversary of Rockstar Games, which will be celebrated by releasing a Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer. The announcement was made with a series of tweets on X / Twitter by Sam Houser, the president and co-founder of Rockstar Games.

The tweet has already reached around 671K likes within 2 hours of posting. The latest false rumours regarding the announcement/trailer release for GTA 6, pointed towards a late October announcement. The announcement comes just 10 hours after a renowned video game journalist Jason Schreicher from Bloomberg posted in his news article that a Grand Theft Auto 6 reveal announcement is imminent this week with a reveal trailer planned for December to commemorate their 25th Anniversary. In his article, Jason also confirmed previous leaks that the game is set in Miami and features two protagonists; one male and one female. Notably, this will be the first time that the Grand Theft Auto franchise will have a female protagonist since the video game series debuted in 1997.

Just last year Rockstar suffered a major data breach in which several hours of developmental footage of GTA 6 was released online and was addressed officially by Rockstar in a tweet explaining that the company suffered a network intrusion, however, the development of the next Grand Theft Auto should be unaffected by it.

Rumours suggest that Grand Theft Auto will release Holiday 2024, and it is expected to be a ginormous commercial hit. The previous entry in the franchise, Grand Theft Auto 5 is the second best-selling game with over 185 million copies sold.
