Odd Taxi The Anime You Didn’t Watch But Should

Odd taxi just ended this week. And with a small 13 episode long season it seems unlikely to have another season coming out. Odd taxi is a crime thriller anime that began on the 6th of April and ended on the 29th of June with its 13th episode. In a world filled with anthropomorphic animals who act just like normal humans.

In a world filled with anthropomorphic animals who act just like normal humans. The story revolves around a 41-year-old Walrus taxi driver named Odokawa. And the people who are connected to him in one way or another. With a young Alpaca nurse who’s in debt to a gangster and a gorilla doctor who is trying to help his friend (Odokawa). The story is filled with such interesting characters. The story while revolving around Odokawa takes dark turns into the underbelly of Tokyo. With corrupt cops and teenagers addicted to social media and the mystery of a missing high school girl. Odd Taxi looks at problems that could happen to normal people and looks at how they got there. One of the saddest stories being about a Puma who is addicted to a Gacha game. To the point where his obsession makes him lose his money, time, and eventually his mind.

What Makes Odd Taxi So Interesting?

The animation, however, is nothing to write home about. But the dialogue and story make up for what it lacks in visuals. With dialogue so interesting and out of left field, you’d swear Quentin Tarantino had written them. And the story is able to keep you interested and guessing where it will go next. As the mystery begins to unravel more and more questions begin to form and other problems begin to arise. Mysteries plague the show from the start with the first and most important mystery being the missing high school girl. What the Gorilla doctor is trying to figure out about his taxi driver friend? Why is the Alpaca in so much debt? Who is the masked and armed puma? And with the most interesting mystery from all of these being, what exactly is in Odokawa’s closet?

With an unknown director (Baku Kinoshita) at the helm of the show, it was hard to figure out which way the show would go. But seeing the series all the way through. There couldn’t have been a better start for this unknown director. With a unique and interesting series to begin his career. He will be someone to look out for in the future. And Odd taxi will be an anime that might not get the attention it deserves but will be unforgettable to the people who have watched it.
