Cross-play is something that has been requested by Apex Legends players since the game’s launch in February 2019. The feature was confirmed by Respawn Entertainment a few months back, but they are yet to reveal exactly when it is going to arrive. Today, we will be talking about everything we know about Apex Legends cross-play so far.

Cross-play is something that allows players from different platforms to play together. For instance, if you’re playing on PC and you’re friend owns a PS4, then you both will be able to play together if the game supports cross-play. The thing about this feature is that it helps both the players and the developers. While allowing friends to play together regardless of what platform they are on, it ends up increasing the overall play base of the game.

Apex Legends Cross-Play Release Date

In the past few years, many games have launched with this feature and have found success through it. Fortnite, for instance, is the biggest example of how beneficial cross-play can be. As for Apex, we first saw that the developers are interested in bringing this feature onboard in April 2019. This year, in June, Respawn finally confirmed it during the EA Play event.

At the moment, Respawn Entertainment is yet to confirm exactly when this feature is going to arrive. During the EA Play event, they made some big announcements but failed to provide a release date for the cross-play feature. However, they did mention that it will go live in Fall 2020. For those who don’t know, the months of September, October, and November usually fall under the Fall tag. If this is really the case, then we will get to see it soon.

One important thing to keep in mind is that Respawn failed to mention anything regarding cross-play at the launch of Season 6. So its highly unlikely that we’ll get to see it become available during this season. Respawn is most probably planning to launch it alongside Season 7, which will go live in a few months.

For those wondering, Apex Legends cross-play will become available for all platforms, including PC, PS4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. The game will also become available on the next-generation consoles, the PS5 and Xbox Series X, so we’ll most likely get to see the feature for them too. In any case, it will be exciting to see whether the player base of Apex Legends will increase after cross-play becomes available or not.
