The 19-year-old TSM player ZexRow ended the Ninja Battles on a harsh note that has led to many disappointed, including the ever-popular Fortnite star Ninja himself. Being the winner himself alongside two others, the occurrence happened while he was being interviewed after winning the event. The screening was still live and was being broadcasted to many, at which ZexROw uttered some harsh remarks that were in no way positive.

Ninja congratulated all the winners and concluded with a hopeful return for the new tourney event in the future. He remarked how he was happy at how the event concluded and chanted it as to have “old competitive vibes”. It was all going well and great, however, it let to a sore instance where ZexRow concluded with some negative remarks towards other players calling them as brain-dead and more. It was not a good instance to have for an event that did consists of various viewers of all ages, that too especially from the mouth of the winning player. The interview went on to congratulate the player, however, the remarks he uttered did catch a breeze. Later on, he commented that he was sorry for his words and how he made Ninja’s own event end on a sour note.

TSM has fined the player a month’s salary, with the CEO also releasing a statement where addresses the young player’s harsh words and how they did not reflect the player’s organization or their sponsors and partners. This is his full statement:

Statement from TSM CEO Andy Dinh:

We are extremely disappointed in the comments made by Anthony “ZexRow” Colandro and take this matter very seriously. Effective immediately, he has been fined one month’s salary. His behaviour was absolutely inappropriate and does not represent the values of TSM or our brand partners.

The Fortnite community is important to us at TSM and is made up of younger players. We know the impact words and actions have, and it is important to make sure that kids see and know that acting like this is not OK. For this reason, we are donating the amount of Zexrow’s fine to Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, an organization that does amazing work for young people all over the country.

TSM echoes his apology to fans and the community, and he has expressed his sincere regret to us as well. We will be providing Zexrow with professional counselling and training, helping him to work on how he conducts himself – both publicly and privately.

Zexrow has been a valuable member of our organization for some time, and we hope to help him learn and grow from this incident. That said, we have informed him that we have a no-tolerance policy for this kind of behaviour and that we will be forced to part ways if something like this should occur again in the future. We believe in Zex, and have faith that with serious personal reflection and focus, he can move forward from this.

The player himself addressed remorse for his actions and has also apologized to the fans and all the watching community.

This is not the first time TSM is taking a stand towards the unprofessional behaviour of their members of the team. Previously their Rocket League Roster was released after throwing a professional match. This shows how organizations strive to converse a professional and ethical atmosphere that resounds well with the organization’s name and its sponsors. This act of fining ZexRow looks to be not as harsh as their last one, and the player still stays at TSM.

The reason goes where professional players have a responsibility towards the community to portray a responsible and ethical way of work in esports. This instance has led to the player getting many negative remarks himself, however, it shall not lead him to be completely banned from games. Ninja himself has yet not directly addressed the player as of yet, however, it looks to have a negative impact overall when the sore incident comes from winner himself. The fine looks towards showing that the player’s actions have not been ignored and the overall impression of a professional event remains upheld.
