Riot Games announce the start-up of the esports scene for Teamfight Tactics. They officially unveil the Galaxies Championship that will start in May. It shall provide the first ever official esports championship for the title.

Today we are excited to announce the first global tournament for TFT – The Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship — and share additional details of our vision for Teamfight Tactics Esports.

The championship will hold a prize pool of $200,000 US. It will feature the top players from throughout the globe going head to head to win the first-ever esports event of the strategy title. Riot also supports this further to make a clear path to the championships from the ingame ladder. Online tournaments are also included here. Thus, Riot is enabling players to take a career in the new title and it looks to fully flourish with Riots consistent future support.

Going forward, we plan to celebrate the conclusion of each set with a competitive global Championship. We want to reward all of the players who dedicate their time to mastering Teamfight Tactics and provide a goal that exists beyond reaching the top of the ladder.

The Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship:

The Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship will take place at the end of the set. Additionally, we’ll reveal additional details regarding timing later on this summer. Sixteen players from around the world will qualify through a region-specific system of ladders and tournaments to ensure that the best players from every region are represented.

The Teamfight Tactics: North America Final:

The Teamfight Tactics: North America Final will take place in mid-August; over two days, where sixteen qualified competitors will vie to be one of the two players representing North America at the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship.

Furthermore, Riot looks to observe the top contenders of this season. This will decide who shall move on to the finals in NA. The news comes along with a full layout of how the championship will hold. It consists of the regional qualifiers shown below.

This scenario additionally includes Riot emphasizing esports organizations to join in the esports scene. The whole ecosystem of Teamfight Tactic’s esports scene begins with this first step. Riot will be announcing guidelines and much more in the future.

The Competitive Ecosystem

In addition to the Teamfight Tactics: Galaxies Championship; we’re going to take steps to create more opportunities for top TFT players and grow the broader competitive ecosystem. First, we’ll be releasing the TFT Community Competition Guidelines next week. This is to unlock organizers to create more opportunities for high stakes competitive play. We’re also working on tools that will make it easier to broadcast and operate tournaments. And we hope to share details on our progress soon.

There’s a lot more to do, but we’re committing to growing the opportunities for top TFT players; creating more exciting events for fans to follow!
