The mobile esports genre is on the rise alongside the professional esports scene, with little to differentiate both aspects. Recently, Call Of Duty: Mobile have announced that they will hold the Mobile World Championships, the biggest mobile esports tournament yet.
Sony comes forward with the official sponsors for their line of Xperia mobiles.
Call Of Duty Mobile officially announce their anticipation for Mobile World Championship. Although dates are not yet set due to obvious pandemic reasons, online play shall interest many fans and players alike for its future endeavours.
STAGE 1: OPEN ONLINE QUALIFIERS (VETERAN RANK OR HIGHER) APRIL 30TH- MAY 24TH:
The path to the Call of Duty: Mobile World Championship global finals begins with four open online qualifiers. Each weekend from April 30th – May 24th UTC, eligible* players ranked veteran or higher will have the chance to play to win Call of Duty: Mobile in-game rewards, and (for the best of the best) individually qualify for Stage 2.
- How it works
- For each of the four weekends, once you click “Sign Up” in game, the tournament will go live and the first ten ranked matches you play will earn you tournament points. Tournament points are based on individual wins and your current rank; the higher your rank the more points you receive for a win. If you reach 80 points within the first ten ranked matches in any weekend you qualify on to Stage 2. Players must compete on an eligible handset and may not use an external device or attachment of any kind that modifies the game’s controls (e.g. bluetooth controllers, wired controllers, mouse, keyboard, etc.) without the express consent of the Administration. Players may not compete using any desktop emulator. The Administration reserves the right to investigate any Player deemed in violation. Players who are found to be in violation may be disqualified from participating in any future Call of Duty® Mobile tournaments.

Mobile gaming takes its own unique community by storm and many titles have adapted the mobile gaming scene. PUBG mobile comes as another highly successful game, alongside other games that do not provide official esports scenarios. An example is Pokemon Go, a mobile gaming app that has active user bases throughout the year since its grand release day. This shows that there is a thriving community that appreciates mobile gaming. Furthermore, this also includes the unique aspects it brings, such as casual play. Hence, the community can catch all the action on the go, wherever they want.
This holds true for the reason why mobile gaming is so popular. This also holds why official organizations and companies support it. Call Of Duty’s introduction into the bigger mobile esports scene will surely catch a lot of views and community feed.
