Overwatch players are currently enjoying the 2020 Archives event. This event is known for featuring some amazing old cosmetic items that players can buy for a lower price. We’re already halfway through the event, and players have started wondering what’s next in store for them. Recently, the director of Overwatch, Jeff Kaplan talked about the upcoming Summer Games, cosmetic items, and much more to let players know what they can expect to see in the coming months.
Jeff Kaplan recently sat down with PCGamesN for an interview in which he talked about some amazing things related to Overwatch. During the interview, he talked about the upcoming Summer Games event, some new cosmetic items, and a few more things. One thing players should keep in mind is that the Summer Games event is still a little far. This is because after the ongoing Archives event ends, we will first experience the Anniversary event before jumping in the Summer Games.

Kaplan claimed that they aren’t planning to add a new sport to the Summer Games. There won’t be any new limited-time modes, except for the old Lucioball that many have already enjoyed. Players had been requesting the developers to add the Lucio Hockey, but Kaplan has confirmed that they won’t be adding it. However, he did say that they are “putting some cool twists” for the already existing content to keep the game fresh. If this is the case, then players will get to see some different modes of Lucioball which might feature some new rules and settings.
The director also talked about cosmetic items that players can expect to see in 2020. He claimed that there are two types of players in the game, and one of them care about cosmetic items. For them, the developers are continuously working on creating some amazing new items. He even added that he has seen some of the skins that are in the works, and that players will lose their minds once they see them.
Other than cosmetic items and major events, players will also get to experience some mini-events that will take place periodically throughout the year. Kaplan claimed that just like the Ashe’s Mardi Gras event which was a surprise, they have more things on the way. Furthermore, he revealed that these events will have some amazing themes and will feature content that people aren’t expecting. In any case, this will be a good year for Overwatch after all. Some players were disappointed after Kaplan confirmed no new heroes will get added to the game for now. But this might calm them down.
