Blizzard Inc. is moving forward with holding Hearthstone Masters Tour events online amidst the pandemic circumstances. It is fortunate news for fans who were looking to see some professional online play.
The Masters Tour consists of invitation-only tournaments where Masters Qualifier winners will have a chance to compete against the biggest names in Hearthstone esports. Taking place all over the globe, each Masters Tour will consist of approximately 300 competitors vying for a share of a $250,000 prize pool!
Top players in the event will have a chance to rise to the highest tier of Hearthstone esports competition; Hearthstone Grandmasters!
They also released updates that show the event will opt for online play. This is instead of the normal gathering due to the current circumstances. The event for Los Angeles also updated viewers with the following statement:
For the overall safety and well-being of our staff and casters, and in alignment with California’s statewide ‘stay at home’ order, we are cancelling the broadcast portion of Masters Tour Los Angeles. Matches will still take place online as previously scheduled. It is our intention to find a solution to showcase the Top 8 matches on Sunday and we will share those details as soon as we have more information. Best of luck to all of the competitors this weekend.
Upon further review of the coronavirus situation given the broad international nature of our event, with invitees from more than 40 different countries, we have made the decision to hold Masters Tour Los Angeles entirely online. We will be providing up to $1,500 in reimbursement for non-refundable travel arrangements to all qualified competitors who have already booked their travel to Los Angeles. All invited players will receive an email no later than March 12. It will hold details on required proof of documentation in order to receive travel reimbursement. Please read the official announcement here: Announcing the Restructuring of Masters Tour Los Angeles to Online-Only.
Hearthstone Masters Tour Los Angeles brings together the best Hearthstone players from around the world. They will compete for their share of more than $250,000. That too out of the $3,000,000 total prize purse for 2020, and the title of Masters Tour Champion. Fans can catch all of the action on YouTube.com/PlayHearthstone as we live-stream the event on March 20-22.
The events shall hold more than $250,000 prize-pool. Along with this, there will be special packages at Blizzard store for the game. These packages would give direct proportions of the money to the event Prize-pool. This holds value for future events of the tournament that are still looking to commence amidst the current pandemic situation.
