The CS: GO esports scene has some late fortunate news for fans. As this year shall see the holding of ESL One Rio 2020 instead of full cancellation. Set for November, the news gives fans another chance to catch all the latest on professional CS: GO esports.
“Dear CS: GO Fans,
the May 2020 CSGO Major in Rio de Janeiro has been rescheduled to 19 – 22 November due to the global health situation related to COVID-19. The May Major’s prize pool will be added to the November Major, so the Rio Major will have a $2,000,000 prize pool.
The tournament will remain at the Jeunesse Arena and tickets purchased for the May date will be valid for the November date. Fans who do not want to retain their tickets may easily request a refund in their Eventbrite account using the email address they purchased their ticket with. If you experience any trouble, contact our support team via firstname.lastname@example.org.
Stay tuned for updates on how participants for the Major are determined and content for the May Major / Minor time frame as ESL and Valve are working through them.
The tournament will remain a Championship level event in the ESL Pro Tour and count towards winning the Intel® Grand Slam.
We hope you understand the decision. Your ESL Team.”
The news still comes as a fortunate update over full cancellation of the event. Brazil fans can look forward this year to catch all the latest later on in November.
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected esports drastically and effectively. Many large events faced cancellation and postponing due to today’s circumstances of holding live events. Other events such as the GDC and E3, also faced cancellation from their intended dates.
This has greatly emphasized how the risk is too big for events to hold large gatherings. These choices to reschedule events at later dates should encourage people to realize the need to fight against this pandemic. Social gathering discouraged intensely, and the following measures should work further to battle the Corona Virus in Brazil, and worldwide.
