Pokimane has partnered up with the University of California Irvine and donated $50.000 to create a scholarship program for the students that are looking to enter the world of esports. The scholarship will be given to one deserving student every year and will cover their tuition fees.  “I love being able to share my experience of how I got to where I am today in hopes that it will help others who are on their way.” She continues, “I’m also especially happy to be supporting UCI’s esports program because their students are focusing on gaming in addition to pursuing their college degrees – which, I can say from experience, isn’t easy!” Pokimane herself has had to struggle in the past while she was getting her degree from McMaster’s University and streaming full-time.

The Twitch gamer is not only supporting up and coming esports students, she has also announced that she is also giving aid to four STEM Advantage scholars for majors in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math as Pokimane herself studied engineering in university and feels that education is something that is very important in a person’s life. The scholarship venture will start in the beginning of 2022 and is said to be just the start of a scholarship that is supposed to take place every year after for a long time to come. The student that will obtain the scholarship will also be given $2,500 annually.

Esports itself is a growing field. One which has begun its track into the education industry and is seeing a rising number of young gamers who are willing to take the risk and become full-time streamers it is possible that the already large industry will possibly grow even larger in the years to come. The scholarships universities are willing to give to esports players has increased to around $15 million per year and could possibly increase even higher in the years to come. The way that the industry is set to grow there is a high possibility that esports will be able to infiltrate other industries besides the education industry in the near future as well.
