The ESL One Frankfurt LAN event is one of the more prestigious Dota 2 events that allow teams to go head to head for a trophy and a decent prize pool. A couple of days back, the tournament announced its first direct invite to Team Alliance. Another invite was expected in the coming days and now it has been sent out. Recently, news broke out that the second direct invite was going to call OG to the platform. This is not exactly surprising. OG are the Frankfurt Major Champions currently.
The ESL One Frankfurt LAN will be hosting a total of 8 teams. 5 of these teams will be coming in from the European, Chinese, American, and SEA regions after respective qualifiers. 3 of the 8 teams will be brought in through direct invites.
ESL made the announcement official through their Twitter page.
“The Frankfurt Major champions @OGDota2 are coming to #ESLOne Frankfurt 2016! http://esl-one.com/dota2/frankfurt-2016/news/the-frankfurt-major-champions-are-coming-to-esl-one-frankfurt-2016/ …”
OG is considered one of the better teams of the European region. After moving their players around and doing a bit of reshuffling after the Ti5 shuffle, the new squad went on to win the Frankfurt Major. Although they weren’t able to bring home any more cups after that, their performances have been consistent. OG finished 3rd in the MarT vs Dota 2 League in January and 7th place at the Shanghai Major.
The ESL One Frankfurt Major is going to boast a whopping $250,000 prize pool. The playoffs will take place in Frankfurt, Germany at the Commerzbank Arena on 18th and 19th June.
Let’s wait and see what team received the third and final direct invite for the Frankfurt LAN event.
