eSports has been one of the emerging form of professional sports today. The rapidly expanding world of professional gaming has been one of the big topics of discussions around and there are many big names looking to get into the world of professional gaming including 2K Sports, Psyonix and others. In light of the recent emergence and widespread adoption of eSports based events, it looks like the popular eSports organizer, ESL is looking to ramp up its efforts and is going to be featured at one of the big upcoming events.
According to a recent report by Mobile Marketing Watch, ESL has once again partnered up with GSMA. For those who are unaware, GSMA is the organizer of the yearly Mobile World Congress and the reason behind the partnership is to work on to bring in the element of eSports to the Mobile World Congress 2016 in Barcelona, Spain next week.
According to the report, ESL Barcelona, presented by the Mobile World Congress is going to be held during February 19 to 21, 2016 which is the weekend before the Mobile World Congress main event. The competition is going to host two different eSports competitions at Fira Barcelona Hall 2 but no details have been provided as to which games are going to be featured and the way it is going to be conducted.
Managing director for ESL Spain and ESL LATAM, Sebastian Radu, said that an eSports tournament in collaboration with such a big event is something exciting to look forward to and is also completely relevant in the world of gaming today since the mobile platform is emerging to be the next big thing in gaming. He added that the partnership with Mobile World Congress is going to help them reach new audiences and is also going to help them discover new places and gamers that they have not yet reached.
ESL Barcelona presented by Mobile World Congress is ESL’s third partnership with the company and while there are not many details revealed, it is going to be something truly exciting to look forward to.
